The first part argues that one of several coexisting forms of Jewish identity, namely Jewish socialism, was hegemonic in New York City\u2019s turn-of-the-century immigrant Jewish communities. The second part homes in on those communities\u2019 constructipns of Jewish women of my grandmothers\u2019 generation, especially about the ways they differed from dominant white ideals. How were my fairly apolitical grandmothers connected as women and as Jews to a progressive, Jewish working-class culture? What was my political inheritance from this culture?&#8220;<\/p>\n<p>Wir freuen uns SEHR \u00fcber alle, die mit diskutieren\u00a0 wollen &#8211; gerade auch wenn ihr es bisher nicht zu uns geschafft habt.
